Stirling Weather Tray - Current Conditions

July 31, 2008 - Stirling Weather 2.2.3133 fixes an issue preventing the application from running at startup on Windows Vista. This release is also updated to the Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5. More information on the Windows Vista "startup boxing" functionality can be found at the Commercial Technical Support Windows Server Performance Team blog.

December 10, 2007 - Stirling Weather 2.0.2900 fixes an issue affecting locations like Alaska where the National Weather Service returns a limited set of forecast data instead of the expected full set of descriptions and icons.

November 28, 2007 - Stirling Weather 2.0.2888 fixes an issue updating extended forecasts and adding new locations that was created when the National Weather Service switched their servers to a third party caching service.

October 31, 2007 - Stirling Weather 2.0.2860 improves the proxy handling of the desktop client and updates the application to use the latest version of the National Weather Service's NDFD web services. This also allowed me to remove the Yahoo Zip Code geocoding since the NDFD web service now performs that function.

October 8, 2006 - Stirling Weather 1.1.2472 fixes a bug where zip codes beginning in 0 would not resolve correctly. If you have issues receiving this update automatically, please uninstall Stirling Weather from the Windows Control Panel and reinstall from this page.

July 12, 2006 - Stirling Weather 1.1 adds current radar images for all of the National Weather Service regions.

July 5, 2006 - Stirling Weather 1.0.2377 is a minor update to Stirling Weather to deal with an issue where the National Weather Service reporting stations do not always follow the NWS XML schema correctly. This variance from the schema was causing issues where the data would not parse correctly within Stirling Weather.

Stirling Weather Tray - Extended Forecast

May 2, 2006 - Following the cease and desist letter from weather.com, I started from scratch and build a new weather application from the ground up using weather data from the National Weather Service. Stirling Weather Tray gets the current conditions from any NWS data station and an extended forecast based on the selected Zip Code. Current Watches and Warnings from the NWS are based on either an NWS Zone Code (click here to find your zone code) or the two character state code for statwide data.
